About us Thorpe products was incorporated in 1986 and in that time have developed a number of products which assist people to lead more enjoyable lives.
In 2005 we recognised that diabetic self management was a growing expectation for diabetics who wanted to live a less restricted lifestyle whilst maintaining good blood levels.
We set about investigating what education was available to diabetics for self management of their condition which would allow them to lead a normal life whilst maintaining good blood sugar levels. It turns out that there are as many methods of educating Type 1 diabetics how to estimate insulin doses for syringe and pen users as there are teachers.
To help improve this situation we have developed a low cost credit card sized electronic calculator (Calsulin) which takes the diabetic through the process of inputting: blood sugar; insulin ratio; grams of carbohydrates and estimated post injection exercise. Calsulin then makes the calculations and automatically displays the insulin dose.
It is our hope that the type one diabetic community will adopt Calsulin to establish a ‘standard’ for Insulin Dose Calculation.
In August 2008 Calsulin went on sale in the UK; USA and Hungary through our distributors.
